Once your trip has been scheduled with us by your Vocational Rehab counselor, you will receive a confirmation from My Lux Rides via text and/or email (depending on the contact information your VR counselor provided to us at scheduling. Your assigned driver will call and/or text you either the day before or the day of your scheduled trip to introduce themselves, clarify customizations for your ride, and answer any questions you may have. Once your driver has arrived to pick you up for your trip, they will call and/or text you to let you know they have arrived and offer to assist you to the vehicle. Your trip will be executed according to your scheduled customizations. One additional small stop is allowed while on your scheduled ride as time allows (for example: drive through your pharmacy for a prescription or drive through a fast-food restaurant to pick up a quick meal or snack).
Yes, each of our drivers has completed sighted guide training and can confidently assist you.
Yes, your driver will be able to communicate with you. Your Vocational Rehab counselor will inform us of whatever communication requirements you will need. Our drivers will be utilizing text messaging and third party ASL services to clearly communicate with you when needed.
Our drivers are happy to transport both you and your dedicated service dog! Each of our drivers is educated in how to properly behave around service dogs and will do their best to avoid any interactions that might interfere with all the incredible training your dog has undergone to do their job.
Absolutely! Our drivers are happy to assist you in getting to exactly where you need to be for your appointments, and can even assist you in filling out any necessary paperwork handed to you when you check-in. The level of assistance for every ride you schedule is completely customizable. We are even able to wait with you in the waiting room for your appointment. We want to help you feel as independent as possible.
We are happy to make sure you are driven by a female driver if that is your preference. We want you and your family to feel safe and confident every time you travel with us.
We understand that life happens. Just contact us and your counselor or social worker as soon as possible so we can make adjustments to your rides when needed.
Yes, we can schedule rides that cross state lines.
To schedule a ride with us, you first need to reach out to your Vocational Rehab counselor/social worker. Rides are scheduled through them.
We schedule personal rides that are not supported by Vocational Rehab on a case-by-case basis at a reduced out-of-pocket rate for clients that we have an established relationship with.
Yes, you can request a specific driver. They do have to be available for the date and time your ride takes place, and we will do our best to accommodate your requests. Not all specific driver requests can be fulfilled, but we will do our best to make sure you are satisfied with your ride.
We can only transport the individual we are contracted by Vocational Rehab to assist. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to transport anyone else but you for your schedule ride.
It is not always possible for us to assign the same driver to you for all of your rides, but we try to keep your driver(s) as consistent as possible and partner women with women drivers for safety purposes. On the rare occasion, you may have a male driver, but you will always know who your driver is going to be before your ride takes place and have a chance to make changes to your ride if you need to.
Unfortunately, we do not have an App yet, but we are planning to have one in the future. For now, you can utilize the location services available on your cell phone to provide your family real-time peace of mind. We look forward to being able to provide this service to our clients in the future.
We do not generally transport anyone under 17 years old. Generally, our clients have graduated from high school and are working on securing employment or are looking for secondary school support.

If you are receiving transportation benefits from Vocational Rehab, it would be a conflict of interest for your family member to be employed by or drive for our company and might jeopardize your benefits. For this reason, we do not hire family members of our clients.
